So What Happened In November?

The average stock in the MSCI World Index ended November 2.63% higher. Information technology and consumer discretionary sectors were the big winners on an equal-weighted basis (6.19% and  6.10% higher, respectively). Nine out of the 10 GICS sectors were higher on the month with the energy sector the big loser on the month (-11.02% lower).

In the emerging markets, the average stock was 1.22% higher in November. The top two performing sectors were information technology (+3.65%) and financials (+3.49%). The energy sector was the worst performing sector in the emerging markets as well (-4.69%).

The best performing country index in November was MSCI Ireland (+8.7%) followed by MSCI Turkey (8.1%) and MSCI Germany (7.6%). MSCI Norway was the worst performing country index (-11.4%) with MSCI Colombia (10.6%) being the only other country indice down over 10%.
